Serpent is Rising- that very first note scares the crap out of me, but over all it’s probably one of my favorite ‘wooden nickel era’ Styx songs. It’s JC singing right?? I really love his voice. It reminds me of JY, and it suits the song well. I always though this song was a sexual innuendo about a “serpent rising” -winkwink- [unless a penis is long enough to uncoil in my spine but I don’t think that would be pleasurable]. Seriously this is a good Styx song pre-Tommy Shaw and all Styx fans should listen to it.

Lights-ILEFGHLERUJEA FUCKING LOVE LIGHTS. Ok ok this song really picks me up when I feel down and helps me find strength to carry on. It is just great. The beginning makes me bounce. And the whole thing puts a smile on my face, and I think of things outside of my mind that make me happy and “carry me away” so to speak. Though, I heard the song is about drugs so yeah drugs don’t carry me away but whatever. You know what I mean. ONE OF MY FAVORITES.

Mother Dear- When I first listened to Equinox, I couldn’t go past Midnight Ride for obvious reasons. I’m sure you can understand why. Anyways, I’m not sure about this one. The synth work is fabulous. This song makes me feel kind of trippy, though I’m not sure why. The guitar parts definitely bring me back. It’s pretty ok. It’s one of those songs that I would drive on the highway to. I feel like I can’t go 30mph throught he village calmly while listening to this song haha.

Quick is the Beat of my Heart- Honestly?? As far as I’m concerned, JY is singing this one, and it makes me want to throw my pants off. I never really understood the lyrics. I don’t know what this song is getting at, but the guitar sounds hot, so that’s a big A+ for Styx.

Carrie Ann- When it comes to “Styx songs with female names” Lorelei is number one on my list. It’s a Styx/DDY love song; it’s really sweet, it has a powerful chorus [and build up to the chorus whatever that is called], and it makes me wish that I had a song for me [though my favorite Styx/DDY love song is probably Love At First Sight].

Kiss Your Ass Goodbye- Ok, I have mixed emotions on this song. Glen did a great job singing this song. But it reminds me a lot of music on skateboarding games/early Green Day. It’s very different from the typical Styx song, but it’s still pretty ok in my book. I think Glen singing it is really what makes it.

First Time- LOLOL THIS SONG OMG THIS IS A SEXY TIME SONG AND I AM TOO IMMATURE FOR IT. But seriously, I do enjoy listening to this song sometimes. It makes me wish I was in love with someone attainable. I love it when Dennis is like ” It’s the first TIIIIIME” cause I’m like OMG YOU ARE SEXING IN FRONT OF THE FIREPLACE YES!!!!!

Prelude 12- So underrated. It is such a great intro to SMB I really REALLY enjoy listening to it. I’m not sure what else to say about it, since it’s instrumental, but the music itself is lovely, almost eery [in an absolutely good way]. 

I saw one for Rush going around, and I don’t know enough Rush songs to reblog it, so I made one for Styx!!

So as the title states, this is the short version. I’m exhausted, but excited at the same time. Allow me to give you some highlights of the show, and let you know what I came home with.

Arrival/Venue- I played slot machines for the first time at a casino. Our seats were fabulous. Uh, the security guy was trying to make small talk with me, mom, and Brooke, but he was kind of a dick. Yeah, I wasn’t really feeling it.

Ted Nugent- Ok so I’m not Nugent’s biggest fan. But, he plays really well, along with the rest of his band. I got a pick from the guitarist on my side. Sometimes, I felt like I was at a political rally. And Nugent’s favorite words are “oh shit”, “pussy”, and “fuck”. Oh, and I got the setlist.

Styx- OMG. Ok. So we all know how my “thing” is to make a little heart with ym hands, and to tell JY that I love him. Well tonight, he was all smiley/flattered about it, and he TOLD ME HE LOVES ME TOO. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO THROW ME PICKS UNTIL I GOT ONE [guess what…..the chick who caught the first one gave it to me, and I caught the second one he threw]. And at the end of the show, he handed me/tossed another pick. I have 3 JY pics. I also have JY’s love. Yeah. I’m very happy.

REO- So good. I felt like I really was letting go of a lot of feelings when they played ‘Time For Me To Fly’. I really needed that. And I fell in love with ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’ all over again.
